SBB contract success for Rhomberg Sersa
Long-term framework agreement for the renewal of switches
Long-term framework agreement for the renewal of switches
In a pilot test, the SBB (Swiss Federal Railways) have introduced a new way of placing orders. Instead of putting contracts out to tender individually as before, for example for the replacement of switches, they were now awarded as a complete package.
The reason for this is that a lot of construction work is scheduled on the SBB's route network. The Swiss Federal Railways do not have enough personnel and machinery to carry out this work completely on their own. It is now passing on standardised work, such as the renewal of switches, to competent partners in performance-related overall packages.
We as Rhomberg Sersa were able to secure the first of the framework agreements to be awarded. Over the next 3-5 years (from 2020 to 2025) we will renew around 350 switches and sidings on the SBB network. We have the overall responsibility for planning, procurement of materials, logistics and installation, including commissioning. The sites will be mainly in German and French-speaking Switzerland. The contract is worth around CHF 80 million.
The contract once again proves our good and long-standing cooperation with the SBB.
