BIM Schiers visibility check

BIM Schiers visibility check

New signals were planned and signals repositioned on the Grüsch-Schiers line of the RhB. An important analysis here is the visibility check for the locomotive crew: Due to obstacles, from what distance can the signal be recognised?

RhB Signalsichtbarkeitsprüfung Schiers

As a solution, existing 3D measurement data from ARGE FahrwegDiagnose was used in the form of point clouds. The new signals were placed and visualised in these clouds based on the RhB's concepts and standards.

From the prepared scene, supplemented with context data of the surroundings from swisstopo, videos of the track journey were rendered from the perspective of the locomotive crew. Thanks to this procedure, a very detailed decision can be made as to whether the newly planned signals can be recognised in good time at the respective speed. Obstacles such as vegetation, buildings or the railway infrastructure were recognised in good time and new variants can be assessed.
