GZU JV, which is built up of Rhomberg Bahntechnik and Strabag, was awarded for construction works on approx. 2.8km of doubletracked HST line as part of the all new freight line between Vienna and Salzburg.
The slab track is made of prefabricated 5.20m long sections of the OeBB Porr type, which in itself is classified as a light spring mass system.
Part of the project was also the installation of 2 high speed turnouts with a 2.600m radius laid in concrete as well as the emergency water supply line along the Bruendl Kapellen Tunnel, installing concrete walkways either side of the track and the installation of cable ducts.
