This project forms part of the High Speed Line (HSL) connections that will improve connections between Switzerland and the rest of the European High Speed network. This 2 km long new tunnel construction will help reduce the travel time between Bern and Paris.

The contract for this construction phase was awarded in September 2015 to the RS Rosshäusern tunnel Joint Venture (ARGE RS Rosshäuserntunnel – part of the Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group) by the BLS railway (Bern-Lötschberg-Siplon railway).

RK safetec was awarded the contract for installing the access, positioning, communication and alarm systems. All equipment were successfully installed and fully operational by May 2017.
